This Code of Conduct outlines expected behaviour for all students, parents, staff, faculty, volunteers, and visitors of SOVO International.

1. Core Principles

All members of our community shall:

  • Respect self, others, and school property

  • Maintain honesty, responsibility, and integrity

  • Uphold the values of the IB learner profile

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment

  • Demonstrate empathy and cultural sensitivity

  • Engage in ethical digital behaviour

  • Follow all school rules, policies, and applicable laws

2. Student Responsibilities

Students are expected to:

  • Attend school regularly and on time

  • Complete assignments honestly and ethically

  • Maintain respectful communication with teachers and peers

  • Avoid disruptive behaviour

  • Uphold a zero-tolerance stance on bullying, harassment, and discrimination

  • Use technology responsibly and safely

  • Preserve school property

  • Report unsafe or inappropriate conduct immediately

3. Parent/Guardian Responsibilities

Parents/guardians must:

  • Provide accurate and updated student information

  • Support the school’s academic and behavioural expectations

  • Communicate respectfully with staff

  • Avoid interfering with school operations

  • Encourage student safety, punctuality, and discipline

  • Participate in meetings, conferences, and school events

4. Staff & Teacher Responsibilities

Staff and faculty must:

  • Provide a professional, safe, nurturing classroom environment

  • Promote fairness and equal opportunity

  • Maintain confidentiality of student records

  • Follow child protection and safety protocols

  • Model behaviour aligned with the IB learner profile

  • Refrain from any form of misconduct, harassment, or abuse

5. Prohibited Conduct

The following is strictly prohibited:

  • Bullying, cyberbullying, or harassment

  • Discrimination based on race, religion, gender, disability, or identity

  • Violence, threats, or intimidation

  • Vandalism or theft

  • Possession of weapons, drugs, alcohol, or unsafe objects

  • Academic dishonesty

  • Misuse of school technology

  • Sharing private student information

  • Misconduct on school transportation

6. Disciplinary Actions

Depending on severity, consequences may include:

  • Warning or counselling

  • Parent meeting

  • Behaviour contract

  • Suspension (in-school or out-of-school)

  • Loss of privileges

  • Expulsion in extreme cases

  • Police notification if required by law

7. Reporting Mechanism

Incidents may be reported to any teacher, counsellor, administrator, or through the anonymous reporting channel on the school website.
